Calcutta HC Judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay To Resign From His Post And Join Politics | Urban Debate
Top News | Judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay of the Calcutta High Court has announced his intention to step down from his position and enter politics on Tuesday. Justice Gangopadhyay said that he will be sending a letter of resignation to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, and Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud. According to media sources, Gangopadhyay was going to enter politics, presumably as the BJP's candidate from the Tamluk parliamentary constituency in West Bengal. But after resigning on Tuesday, Gangopadhyay said he will choose which political party to join.

Calcutta High Court Refuses To Recall Order Asking NHRC To Examine Post Poll Violence
The Calcutta High Court on Monday refused to recall its June 18 order directing the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to constitute a committee for examining complaints filed during post-poll violence in West Bengal.
The TMC government in West Bengal filed the affidavit after the Calcutta High Court directed the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to examine all cases of alleged human rights violations during post-poll violence in the state.

Mamata Banerjee government of West Bengal has received a major setback from the Calcutta High Court. The Calcutta High Court has directed the West Bengal government to hand over the investigation of the rape and violence cases to hand over to the CBI. Its BJP vs TMC over the latest order by Calcutta High Court. Calcutta HC ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the Bengal post poll violence. The high court also ordered SIT investigation in the allegations. Trinamool Congress-led government said the decision hinders with state’s rights. Meanwhile, BJP supported the decision.
